Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
