Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from spring of that year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an better serve.
He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.
The opponent saved four initial break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
