Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car You're Hoping For
It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to use it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.
The Dream Vehicle
Although most players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch designed personally in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, fans are getting the family's everyday well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an recognizable symbol of the series. And for players who pay attention to the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics
But that's not the sole cosmetic from the show arriving in Rocket League. This limited-time event will also include a series of challenges to unlock additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a official announcement, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"
Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears players will also get rims with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
