These last 48 hours have been incredibly eventful. This past Monday, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a competition to decide the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to compete against each other, culminating in a final showdown where the leading contender from each console would go head-to-head. We've witnessed some incredibly close calls in the initial matchups, especially the extremely tight polls from the previous day. At this point, it's moment to decide the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games before Thursday’s final battle.

The PS5 Side

For PlayStation 5, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected given that it won top honors at last year’s Game Awards, but its victory over God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. But to get to the finals, it'll need to defeat the MVP of the PS5 generation: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a smooth path to the semi-finals, defeating Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Can Spidey topple a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he destined to become a chibi cameo in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

Xbox Series X Contenders

For Xbox Series X has been even juicier. Emerging victorious from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a significant win for the racing adventure title already, demonstrating that a more specialized genre game earns to be on the equal footing as traditional jump-and-run games and story-driven epics. Its final obstacle on the way to the championship is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a fan favorite, beating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a much bigger game from an established IP that's closely tied to Xbox itself? Should anyone manage this feat, it's probably Indy.
